Neurofeedback (EEG Biofeedback; Neurotherapy ) is a procedure utilizing sophisticated computer technology to measure, record, and give understandable feedback ( using a video game format ) of brain function to clinician and patient to assist in regulating arousal levels in the brain. Neurofeedback involves the immediate reward or inhibition of instantaneous increases or decreases of amplitude in a selected frequency band of EEG signals. Brain waves ( EEG frequencies and amplitudes ) are correlated to brain states. EEG training is a brain exercise that improves central nervous system self-regulation, increasing both adaptability and stability of brain functions.
